How I heard of Allison

Like most people, I first noticed Allison on American Idol Season 8. I loved her rocker chick genre, unique style, and overall personality. After hearing her sing Alone by Heart during the Top 36 round I knew she was going to go far in the competition

How Allison Iraheta Web first came about

Before Season 8 started I knew I wanted to do my next fansite on one of the contestants. However I wanted to make sure the contenstant was going to make it far enough to have plenty of fans before starting. I was also busy with other projects which delayed it further. By the time I got around to it, my hosting company StarsZZ had Allison Iraheta Web as an adoptable site. It already had content which allowed me to keep all the gallery photos / screencaps / etc. from Allison's time on American Idol. The original layout wasn't as reflective of Allison's style and I really wanted red to play a big part in the layout since her red hair defined her a lot on the show, so I changed it.

Today

The current layout is geared more toward a usability and information architecture standpoint as well as incorporating a higher level of design. Being much more well-versed in coding, I really wanted to go all out with this. The most important information to a brand new visitor is an introduction, so I moved the welcome message to the top of the page. Supporting Allison has always been my intent with this fansite, so I moved the Support Allison section into a call-to-action slider to grab users' attention on how they can help support Allison. Users who reach the site via search engine may be looking for something specific, so I added a site search to accomodate them. Finally, I made a footer as a more organized way of displaying external links and website information.
